How to present myself to an employer at a career fair? My school has a business career fair next week and I am graduating this semester and am doing that job search stuff. I'm going to be wearing a suit and have extra resumes and stuff, I am just wondering how to begin a conversation with the recruiter. Do I just walk up and "Hi, my name is ___, here is my resume"? How do I engage in conversation with them?
How to write a sample invitation to our school Career Fair? I'm on the career fair committee at my school, and volunteered to make the invitations to the board members and some other higher ups at the Board of Education to come see it. These people are not being invited to be presenters, but they are the heads of the various school departments (and our bosses) that we want to come and see our work. I'm having trouble figuring out how to word it.
Should I go to the career fair or the actual restaurant? There's a restaurant that is having a career fair next week because they are hiring. However, the career fair is really far and I don't think I will be able to make it there. The restaurant itself is very close to my house. Can I just go to the restaurant and apply there instead of the career fair?
How do I write thank-you notes after a career fair? My colleges career fair was yesterday, I interviewed for two internships and have two other companies that want me to send resumes to them in the spring. I was always told I am supposed to follow the career fair with emails out to the people I talked with, however I have never done it before. What do I say to companies that I will be talking with more seriously in a few months? And to the ones I interviewed with? One of the interviews was this morning should I send that email tomorrow?
What should I do while at career fair? I am a junior in college right now and will graduate next May (so over a year). I am going to a big career fair in week. Since I won't actually be able to get any of the jobs there (unless they're looking for someone that far in the future!) what should I expect to get out of it? I have a degree that is not very specific so I guess I could get ideas while I'm there. Should I bring resumes even though I'm just a junior? or should I wait til next year to do that? Any tips would be great. Thanks.
Why do so many companies come to a university career fair if they aren't hiring? Why do so many companies pay thousands to come to a university career fair if they are just going to tell every graduating student that sorry but they aren't hiring. Around 30 companies in my field showed up and well over half of them told every student that they weren't hiring. What possible financial or business sense does it make to spend thousands in travel costs and the thousands they have to pay just to have a booth in the university career fair and then pay the recruiters to stand there and tell everyone they aren't hiring?
How can I prepare for a job/career fair? I signed up for a career fair at the end of January and I am not exactly sure what I should do to prepare for it. I know I need to bring multiple resumes and cover letters, but how many? How should I act and how are these things run anyway? Any tips? I am a little shy and really dreading this.
Are you supposed to bring cover letters to a career fair? My school does not release a list of the companies coming to the fair and since I don't know what companies will be at the career fair I have no way of addressing cover letters to the individuals there. Is it acceptable to just give a copy of my resume and references to each employer I visit at the fair?
how does a career fair work, and how do i find a local one? I'm 19 and I live on my own so I need something that is a little more then flipping burgers are wendys. I need something where I make at least $12/hr to support myself. I'm a college student, not yet really qualified to do anything. Should I find a local career/job fair? How do they work? I mean I literally only have cashiering experience so I don't think anyone would take me seriously there. What should I do?
What to do after you attend a career fair? In London there are currently many career fairs, or recruitment events by many companies. Can anyone provide some tips of how to follow up after you attend these events? The ultimate purpose of attending is finding a job; but since so many people turn up at these events, what can you do to stand out?
What's the best idea for a career fair give-away? My company is planning to order some give-aways to handout to students at university career fairs. I don't want to use the same things all the other companies give out (highlighters, stress balls). I'm looking for some good and creative ideas. If you're a student, what have been some of your favorite items--something you'd actually keep? Thanks.
do people get jobs straight away after they went to a career fair? there's a career fair and all of my friends are going. i wanted to go too but i'm terrified of interviews and career fair is about mostly trying to make an impression on employers... that means a hell lot of interviews.... i don't want to let my friends see me as a nervous idiot anyway. so my question is.. has anyone who's ever been to a career fair, gets a job straight away? if this is what normally happens then i think i should pull myself together and go there tomorrow.

I'm a nurse & volunteered at an elementary school's career fair. Need some good ideas on what to do? Hello, I am an RN and have volunteered at my grandson's school's career day for 4th and 5th graders. I am trying to come up with some good ideas to make my booth, at the fair, exciting. I am planning on bringing some stethoscopes for the kids to use, and am trying to get a blood pressure machine. I was looking for anymore great ideas of stuff to have. Maybe someone else out there has done a similar career fair and might have some thoughts. Also, the company I work for did provide me with plastic bags to hand out. Any ideas of what I could put in those bags would be great. Thank You, Ilene

I know where in the room he will be at and it's not too hard to avoid him, but should I take the risk? What to say at a career fair? I am about to graduate in May with a BS in electrical engineering. I plan on attending some job fairs in the near future. What are recruiters looking for you to say when you first approach them?? Any other advice would be appreciated as well too. Thank you!
Medical Career Fair...Do I need to bring letters of recommendation ? I am attending a career fair on Tuesday to initiate my job search. I know that I should take a resume; however, I do not have letters of recommendation at this time. Is it essential that I have letters of recommendation or a list of references available at this job fair? Will it hurt my chances if I do not have those materials? In the meantime, should I go ahead and approach my contacts to ask for letters? Are three letters sufficient? Just so you know, I am hoping to obtain a speech-language pathologist Clinical Fellowship position. Thanks so much in advance!
