Im moving to Atlanta,GA. Need adv & answers on everything from A to Z.?
Im going to be moving to Atlanta in 2008,during mid summer. I would like some advise on the following: I would like to find a 1 bd that is in a suburban area (preferably) that ranges in the $600-$700 range. Is that possible? If not let me know what is. Also is the job market hard or easy to enter (Im currently a Pharm Tech)? Any opinions on the local colleges? Im currently in a communtiy college but want to move up to a four yr college to cont my degree. Lastly I am a single straight female that would like to have fun on occasion :-). What are the best places to go to for clubs and other activities? I like everything from hip hop, reggae, mixed crowds, art fairs, festivals etc. I know this is alot but I really need some help; 2008 is around the corner. Thanks in adv for your answers.

- Wow that's a bunch. I think the best Pharmacy school is in Macon, GA Mercer. Not sure which other schools are good in ATL. Avoid Clayton State, Clayton County has really turned rough over the past couple of years. Crime is way up. Georgia State is downtown and a good school. Look for cheap apartment near the Virgina Highlands area or Downtown Decatur, Midtown is also happening but very expensive. Decatur is probably your best value. Good luck. I love shows at the Variety playhouse, Spivey hall Jazz, MJQ concourse. so much to see good luck. < I can't believe that Crim just said that Georgia State is safer then Clayton State.> Where? GSU is downtown and any metro area is going to be relatively dangerous. Since the demolition of the major housing projects, Capital Homes, Grady homes, etc. Crime has skyrocketed in Clayton County. Just be cautious and you will be fine. dixiedarling must live OTP in the burbs.
- It depends on your living standards, the cost of living is steep in ATL, I was born there and I can't afford to move back. My advice would be to try line up something before you actually move. Go there on a weekend or vacation and scope it out on your own, if you have no family there or unless you have hardship funds available I'd be cautious. ATL is very to win competitive right now and you want to win not lose.
- Mercer is a good University. Emory also has a pharmacology program and it's in Atlanta. I think Morehouse does, too. You should be able to get a small one bedroom or studio just about anywhere on the outskirts of the city in that price range. It just depends on where you look, timing, and the actual location you choose. http://www.everyaptmapped.com/apartments/atlanta,georgia,ga/1,,,,,,,/rent-1.html With skills and and education you should find the job market wide open. As for clubs, fairs and festivals - they're everywhere: http://www.accessatlanta.com/
