My daughter is finding her school work to easy. What do you recommend?

My 11 year old daughter is finding her school work to easy. She needs a greater challenge. What do you recommend? We have enrolled her into an accelerated program for next year in High School (in Australia).

  1. ask her teacher if there is a possible way to get harder or more homework. my brother was finding his school work too easily and we talked to his teacher and she was able to send home some tougher homework for him.
  2. The school teacher will not give extra assignment but you can get the next year material from school and work it out at home. In this way not only you have got her ready for next year also she will be ahead of her school mate. and if she gets better she may jump to the next level by school approval.
  3. Have you tried the Gifted Program? If she's in there already, then you are one fortunate parent.
  4. If she starts getting really bored at school, then try to get her into a higher class for the upcoming year because if she gets really bored in a class she might start not paying attention in class, but before you make any decisions for her ask her if she wants to because if you put her in a class she doesn't want to go into then she wont care much for it because she'll be mad at you for putting her in it.
  5. I'm in Australia. I don't think my school has a gifted program. Usually for me I take normal classes, then when teachers realise my ability in maths and science I get higher level work. So far I've done, Year 10 Maths work in both year 9 and 8. Year 10 physics in year 8. Year 11-12 Chemistry in years 8 and 10. I always try to get better marks. My average for my last report was 96% in 8 subjects. English, Religion and History aren't things you need to be accelerated in. I think you would be happy in the gifted program.
  6. you can tell her teacher about it, and her teacher will probably give her more challenging work.
