Can anyone tell me the job outlook for elementary teachers in the south - esp. atlanta, nashville, asheville?
I am looking ot move to the South this spring. I am a certified teacher, but living in an area that isn't hiring, so I'm looking to relocate. Any advice about teaching/moving to these areas would be appreciated. Also, any information about job fairs/when hiring starts/tips would be great. Thanks!

- I know ATLANTA needs elementary school teachers almost as badly as they need water. The catch is that you may have to take a job in a tough part of town until you've been there a few years, because the jobs in the more desirable places to live are extremely competitive. Gwinnett County (northeast of Atlanta) is the largest employer in the state of Georgia and may be a good place to start. However, having lived in Atlanta for a large part of my life, I would absolutely NOT recommend moving there. The traffic is horrible (with no solutions in sight), the sewer system is failing (with a $1B+ overhaul the only solution), and they are running out of water. ASHEVILLE is a VERY desirable place to live. Cost-of-living is affordable, but I'll warn you that housing prices are expensive compared to wages (especially if you want to buy instead of rent) and jobs are very competitive. NASHVILLE is a place I don't know much about, so I'm sorry I can't help you with that one. I have friends who live in Mt. Juliet, a suburb of Nashville, and they've always said the school system their kids attend is very good. I have spent time there, and I like the Nashville area. However, I don't know much about the availability of jobs. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
- apparently, there is a TON of growth in NC. i would find the dept of ed for that state, and see if they have a listing of school district websites and work from there.
