Job Fair Atlanta

What should I do while at career fair?

I am a junior in college right now and will graduate next May (so over a year). I am going to a big career fair in week. Since I won't actually be able to get any of the jobs there (unless they're looking for someone that far in the future!) what should I expect to get out of it? I have a degree that is not very specific so I guess I could get ideas while I'm there. Should I bring resumes even though I'm just a junior? or should I wait til next year to do that? Any tips would be great. Thanks.

  1. dudette find a company that you want to work at then blow the personnel manager if she is a woman email me i will come to watch - crannypete@yahoo.com.au
  2. what should you do?... try looking for a job
  3. take resumes with u don't wait till next year have u seen tomorrow there r few things u need to know. bring ur resumes dress nice wear a suit have a good hand sake make eye contact don't ask how much would i be getting paid basically wat iam tring to tell u is dat dont ask stupid questions. i hope it helps Don't forget to bing ur resumes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Do not give them your resume, instead do a bullet point of all the highlights in your career. Deans list. wpm. your skills. Head it with your contact info and let people know you want an informational interview with the department head of the job that you are interested in. That way you will have contact people and if any of them ask you if you are looking for an internship or job. Say yes I am looking but I don't expect you to have an opening for me but if you know of one I am interested. Also look professional and wear a pant suit with a blouse.
  5. Do you already have plans for this summer? As you're heading into your senior year, finding a good summer job/internship can be very important. It will give you and the company time to assess each other and let you know if you're interested in working in that field or for that employer after graduation, or at least can be a good resume booster when you interview for jobs next year. Also, another thing you're trying to do is not necessarily just trying to get a job from the company, but also to network and make connections. Even if a recruiter doesn't have a specific job that would be a good fit for you, one may open up later or they may know another company that is looking to hire. Since you have a non-specific major, this may be especially important. Try to get a feel of different company cultures and career opportunities. Does the company hire "specialists" or well-rounded people that they anticipate using in different capacities through their time at the employer? Ask if you can get an "informational interview" with one of their employees (see link for advice). So make sure you dress up, bring your resume, and have intelligent questions to ask.
