I'm a nurse & volunteered at an elementary school's career fair. Need some good ideas on what to do?
Hello, I am an RN and have volunteered at my grandson's school's career day for 4th and 5th graders. I am trying to come up with some good ideas to make my booth, at the fair, exciting. I am planning on bringing some stethoscopes for the kids to use, and am trying to get a blood pressure machine. I was looking for anymore great ideas of stuff to have. Maybe someone else out there has done a similar career fair and might have some thoughts. Also, the company I work for did provide me with plastic bags to hand out. Any ideas of what I could put in those bags would be great. Thank You, Ilene

- You could bring scrubs for kids to dress up in. Maybe fake bones and a chart showing different bones? That's all I can think up of now. Oh, You could put inexpensive doctor toys in the plastic toys. Make sure they arn't small, for that would cause a choking hazard.
- I'd love to see a display using helium balloons. Is it dangerous to breathe a little of that and talk funny?
- for the bags maybe those gloves kids love to blow up or those fun bandaids those are the only inexpensive things I could think of.. what's your budget? maybe bring the little hammer (sorry i don't know the medical terms) to test on their knees
- I recently had to go to my sons school. I am an OR RN- so I took a gown, gloves, hats and masks for them to try on. I talked about handwashing and the use of sanitizers. You could give them coloring sheets of medical things, band aids, hand sanitizer, stickers and novelty items in their bags.
