- make sure you do your homework on the company. they will appreciate the fact that you know info about the company. get info about the position, and sell your qualities that should make them consider you for that position.
- That is impossible to predict, as it depends on that person's demeanor that day. All you can do is to present your pitch and the rest is OUT of your control
- If you know who the employer is, then come prepared to talk to them. Know the company, know their products, know their history. You can find out a lot on their web page and Wikipedia. Dress nicely, with clean pressed clothes and a conservative look (no piercings, cover any tattoos, keep your hair out of your face) and put on a smile. Make eye contact with everyone you meet. Shake hands firmly but not too hard, and repeat people's names as they say them to you so you remember them. Take notes if you need to. Bring several copies of your resume. Make sure if you use an email address on your resume or applications that it sounds professional - not something like "teninches4u6969@provider.net" - get a free address from Yahoo if need be. Talk about your strong points without being arrogant. Thank them for their time and get a business card if possible, and then follow up with a phone call or email thanking them again and requesting an interview if things went well.
