- Yes, the probationary period is just an amount of time that your new employer can fire you without giving a reason. Normally when you get fired, your boss must give a good reason, i.e. rudeness to a customer, destruction of property, or being late repeatedly. During a probationary period, all they have to say is goodbye.
- If a job ever asks you to work for free, regardless of your employment status, it is a violation of federal labor laws. Not to mention a HUGE liability for the company if you were to get injured. I see six figure settlement.
