who can give info about finding work in guernsey,as a UK resident, taking into account residency restrictions?
I have considered moving to Guernsey after being associated with the Island for many years, and wish to know the position re working and living there. I am likely to look for a job in the finance sector or other professional clerical type work, but I am aware that there are restrictions on moving to the Island. I would like to know about how likely this is to develop, or whether I would be wasting my time by pursuing the matter. I believe you can move there if you have permanent employment but have not been able to find out more about this. I am presently resident in UK permanently, and in full time employment, having been with the same employer for 20 years. I am single and have no real ties in respect of personal affairs.

- It remains difficult to enter Guernsey. Firstly there are two housing markets 1. Local Market (for locals) 2. Open Market (open to all). Secondly to get a job you need a work permit. To get a work permit you need to either live in Open Market property which is very expensive or get a licence to live in Local Market. To get a licence you need to have an employer who applies on your behalf for a job he can't fill locally. Licences are given out sparingly mainly to qualified professional. Other than meeting a local bloke and marrying him, some people find sharing Open Market property affordable. If you've been to Guernsey do you know anyone who can put you up for a while? I think you're allowed to stay 3 months under this arangement which may give you a chance to investigate things. I've put a link below which gives the official view. Good luck.
- Link to a Guernsey page which has link to tourist site which may help.
