1. On a study visa you won't be able to work legally, you will need a working permit to work, or a residence permit.
2. MJay is right, you cant work on a study visa i'm afraid, see if you can get a permit to work though, although usually cant spend any longer than 3 months in any one job....look at nz immigration website for details, and once sorted, seek.co.nz or trademe.co.nz are pretty good for jobs
3. Your going to find it tough at the moment to get a job in new zealand as there arent really any and even tougher cause you have the wrong visa - sorry mare Thats why alot of kiwis move overseas cause the work here is crap and there isnt enough of it!
4. picking fruit is really common in new zealand catering too
