frustrated and need tips for finding a job?

ok, i'm 20 years old and have been trying to get a job since the age of 16. The reason that I believe that I still haven't gotten one is because of this program that the town has. They help all the teens with low grade point averages, low income families, and the ones that have babies get jobs. i tried to get in the program in order to get a job when i turned 16, but i was turned down because i didn't have those requirements. (if you are accepted in the program, jobseekers HAVE to give you the job) Now it seems like people are discriminating against me because i have no work experience at my age. That's only the start of the problems. The next problem I have is when i call the job or actually show up in person to check up on my application, there is always some rude employee saying something along the lines of "they're not in. if they consider you, they'll call" I'm confused abt this because i hear from so many people that your chance of getting a job gets better when you call or go up there. somebody please give me some advice on what I should do to better my chances. I would appreciate it, because i need a job so bad because next semester in school isnt that far away and i need cash for books. thanks to marie t: i'm always nice back to them even though it seems that everyone is rude, and today when i went to check up on the movie gallery job, nobody was there and she was just plain rude. thanks for the advice :)

  1. It's not always crystal clear how to start searching for a job, I was in a bit of a rut over the past few weeks when I was job searching, until I uncovered the website in the box below that has sensible tips and tricks. I soon got myself going down the correct track, and in a couple of weeks after a couple of interviews I scored a really good job.
  2. Start networking with everyone you know - your teachers, friends, parents' friends, etc. Let them know you're looking for a job, that you're hard working and dependable, etc. Volunteer for a local charity that you want to support and network with all the people there. Does your school have a career office? Go there and ask for help. And remember, just because the employee is rude, don't be rude back. Be polite. Ask when the manager will be in. Make sure you're not there during busy times. Good Luck!
