How to get a part-time job?

Im turning 16 this October and I really want a part time job after school and one the weekends. I worked for my Dad in construction and handled alot of his paperwork, and made phone calls for him (If that counts as any experience.). Anyways how do you get a job? Do you go in the store and ask? How do you know if any new stores are opening? Thanks,

  2. The best way to find a job is through someone you know connecting you to their boss. That's how I've found most of my jobs. If you want to go at it cold turkey then find a place you want to work. Walk inside and ask the person if the manager is available to speak to. Think of it as just starting a conversation. If the manager is not there then just ask the person if they know whether or not if they are hiring. If they have a "Now Hiring" sign in the window you can skip that question, and just say that you saw the sign in the window and would like a job application. If the manager is there, then ask the manager if they are hiring, what positions they are hiring for, and what kind of work needs to get done. Ask any other question you might have and be sure to mention you are looking for part-time work. Don't dress like a goof ball, I saw a guy once just flat get rejected because of the way he was dressed and the piercings in his face. When you get the application, take it home to fill it out. Sometimes a place will ask you to fill an application online. If you need to do this, then make sure you ask the manager how easily you'll be able to find the part-time positions on the website. Lastly, just make sure you confirm with the manager that they are going to work you on hours you're available if you are hired. I imagine you're probably in school, so you don't want to be scheduled during school hours. A few last pointers. Make sure to keep good communication with the hiring manager and anyone else you come in contact with. Communication is key to getting anywhere in life. Make sure to smile and have a good attitude. Don't be dishearten if you have to visit a lot of places before you find somewhere that is hiring, this is common. Make sure the place you apply to is a place you wouldn't mind working at. There ya go. Good luck.
