  1. It might be possible, but it's very difficult and almost impossible nowadays. A well-paying job means that it's most likely a highly skilled occupation. All major developed nations have restricted who should get jobs which are scarce nowadays. Therefore, if a job is available the government restricts employers to seek out Canadian citizens first, and only if the job cannot be filled by a Canadian then they may look for foreigners.

  3. You need either a SIN number to work in Canada, or a work visa. If your skills are needed you will get a job by signing a contract. Engineers are needed, so if an American Engineer signed the contract he would be making a lot of money without actually being a citizen.
  4. Most likely not. For working in Canada you need SSN, which as a non citizen you would not have. Even otherwise unemployment rate in Canada for almost all categories of skilled workers is at all time high. Only possibility of having high paying job in Canada would be to have contract; employment approved through HRD, in a field of specialization where no local talent is available
