Why won't he get a dang job?

I think my daughter's husband is a bum because he won't get a job while she works her butt off. Don't give me this "house husband" nonsense! I can't stand a man that won't work. What do you think?

2. He's only a house husband if he's taking good care of the house. Otherwise he's a moocher. I think he could stand a part time job, even if only 15 hours a week. And yes, I'd say the same of a woman.
3. What you think does not matter. What your daughter thinks is whats important. Its her marriage not yours. But out. Don't be a nosy MIL.
4. She should show him the door. Who needs an extra child to mind?
5. I guess this is matriarchy then. I think both sides will benefit/suffer equally. Same with patriarchy.
6. I think you will have to talk to him; one on one and ask him. Maybe the will get you an answer or get him moving. (Or create a division between you and your daughter) I am a man, I agree with you. I would want to tell him "get off you fat ass and be a man! Gat a job!" BUT Maybe there are mental or physical health issues. or Maybe he is just good for nothing. No goals, no ambitions, satisfied to sit on his .... A marriage is a team event. He needs to get out of the dug-hole and onto the playing field. Just think how well off they would be if they both worked and one salary went full times to savings... Good luck...
7. It really isn't any of your business. If she is fine with it, then that is her decision and her life. But to answer your first question, why should he if she is making it easy for him at home?
8. Because all the Dang manufacturing and maintenance jobs have been shipped offshore or outsourced to China and the Third World, all in the name of a few bucks! I can't even get my Dang serviced regularly these days - takes weeks to get some guy in from India! And don't bother asking for parts for a DIY attempt! Not in stock!! Dang it all!

10. Maybe he actually IS a house husband. It must be nice to be able to come home from work and having a loving husband who cleans and cooks for you. I wouldn't mind working my butt off for him.
