What kind of job can you get with a A.A. in Psychology from a bible college?
I've recently become friends with a great person who is attending a bible college for a psychology degree. She's certain that she's going to get hired at a public hospital or school as a psychologist....would they hire someone with a bible degree? Can you even write prescriptions with that kind of certification?

- No psychologists can write prescriptions in the USA. There are no "psychologist" jobs in the US for anyone whose highest degree is an associate. A minimum of a master's degree is required and almost all psychologist jobs require a Ph.D. or a Psy.D. That the college is a "Bible college" is not a factor in this discussion.
- Some Bible colleges are accredited - I don't know if that makes a difference. I'm hoping to go to a Bible college, and the ones I'm looking at have many majors...not only in Bible.
- You need a masters degree in psychology to work as a counselor at a school, and a PhD in psychology to be a psychologist. Psychologists can't write prescriptions; that's a psychiatrist (need an MD and 5 years of residency). And if her degree isn't accredited, she can't use it to transfer to a 4-year school to get started on the more advanced degrees.
- Your friend is sadly mistaken about so many things.. She will find out soon that her degree is completely worthless. You need to be a doctor to write prescriptions. That requires a Bachelor's degree and an M.D., about 12 more years of school than she has. The only job she can get with an AA in Psychology is cashier at Walmart.
